I use bamboo fiber flour regularly since a small amount in combination with other low carb flours is enough to fix the consistency of a mixture but..

Caution! There are different qualities!

The best quality is the finely ground, the one that looks like corn flour in texture (powder).

Other qualities that the fibers are not well ground and resemble cotton (or cloud), do not dissolve easily, make lumps in the mixtures, and have a flour (or paper) aftertaste in the mouth.

I have used many different brands of bamboo fiber flour.

Good quality can cost twice as much but it is worth investing (after all it is a relatively budget ingredient) since it lasts for a very long time and you will have the best result.

How can I replace wheat flour? The conversion formula for 250g wheat flour in a corresponding low carbohydrate flour mixture could be: 150 g Almond Flour + 25 g Bamboo fiber flour + 2 g Guar gum

There is a question..

- Are bamboo fibers toxic?

Some types of bamboo contain a toxin that can only be dangerous if consumed raw bamboo.

The fibers used for bamboo flour are processed and there is no danger, especially after they are cooked so that every trace is eliminated.

What is bamboo fiber actually?

Are bamboo fibers food?

YES OF COURSE!

The bamboo variety "dendrocalamus asper" used for its fiber has even been used as a food for a long time, even if you have not heard of it.

Rumors are circulating on the internet that bamboo fiber is not supposed to be approved for use in food. This of course is complete nonsense.

It's argued that bamboo fiber is not allowed as a food additive - which is absolutely true.

Just like tomatoes, apples and steaks - which are also not approved as food additives.

FOOD ADDITIVES are NOT food, but only ingredients that can STILL be used in food (such as baking soda, acids, stabilizers and preservatives).

By the way, there has been no formal approval for food since 1997, when the novel food regulation was adopted.

What was known as edible food in Europe before that date was allowed to retain its status, everything that was known only afterwards (such as chia seeds, which were not known in Europe before 1997) had to undergo a lengthy examination.

Bamboo fiber from the "dendrocalamus asper" variety was known as a food long before 1997 and is therefore officially a food.

Hallo, for those with almond allergies, almond flour can be replaced 1:1 with ground sunflower seeds. There will be differences in macros and taste
